On a sunny San Diego morning, CDR Andrew B. Koy was relieved as the Commanding Officer of USS STERETT (DDG 104) by CDR Shaun Dennis.  CDR Koy and family will be reporting to duty at the Pentagon after an outstanding tour that started in August 2018 when he become the ship’s Executive Officer.  He assumed command of STERETT in October 2019 and recently returned from a 10-month deployment with the USS NIMITZ Carrier Strike Group, which included earning the ship’s 7th Battle Effectiveness Award since 2008.  Well done CDR Koy, fair winds and following seas Sir!  CDR Dennis becomes the ship’s 10th Commanding Officer and hails from Baltimore, MD.  His most recent tour of duty was as the Executive Officer of the Mayport, FL, homeported the USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55).  Congratulations Captain Dennis – welcome aboard Sir!!!  Representing the USS STERETT Association at the Change of Command Ceremony was Vice President Burton Dietz and Captain Eugene “Gene” Bailey, USN (Retired).  Photo caption left to right is Burton Dietz, CDR Shaun Dennis, Gene Bailey and CDR Andrew Koy.
