Last week, it was reported that on 12 May 1994 CG-31 had been transferred to the Maritime Administration at Suisun Bay, in the S.F. Bay area. That post brought back a lot of memories and caused many to ask why we ever allowed the 3rd USS STERETT (DLG/CG 31) to be scrapped. From what has been posted by those involved in her rescue, a huge effort went into saving the ship, but funding killed the fight to save her. This caused our Association to create a page to share those efforts to save the ship.
