From Baltimore City Council President Nick J. Mosby:
“If you drive in the 1600 block of 25th Street, you’ll notice it’s been named in honor of Commanding Officer Shaun E. Dennis Sr.  Officer Dennis grew up on 25th Street at Harford Road.  The eldest of six siblings and raised by his grandmother, he split time between Cardinal Gibbons and Lake Clifton high schools.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation in 1992 and worked his way up the ranks to become commanding officer of the U.S.S Sterett based in San Diego, Calif.  Today, Officer Dennis leads more than 500 sailors.  Officer Dennis’ dream opens the door of promise for little girls and boys walking the same streets in East Baltimore and the same hallways he walked as a young person.  His life is a roadmap showing our children how to take their dreams and manifest them into reality.
Naming this street “C.O. Shaun E. Dennis Sr. Way” will be a reminder for all who travel this road and see that name, not only of the importance of dreaming but that it is possible to make dreams a reality.
