Recognition as the best ship in the Pacific Fleet does not come easily.
This is a result of your unrelenting effort. This is your constant focus on
being the best WARRIORS, STEWARDS, and PARTNERS in STERETT you can be. This
is sacrifice from both our crew and our families ashore.
Thank you to all for your dedication and sacrifice to make STERETT the ship
our nation needs. STERETT remains ready because of you.
Gratefully,

The Spokane Trophy embodies the meaning of Esprit de Corps, which is a feeling of pride, fellowship, and a common loyalty shared by all its members.  In 2010 just two years into her life, the USS STERETT (DDG 104) was recognized as the best surface combat ship – meaning that it was considered to be the most proficient in overall combat systems readiness and warfare operations in the entire Pacific Fleet!  Starting in 1908, the award has been won by ships like USS TENNESSEE (the first recipient), USS ARIZONA, and USS WEST VIRGINIA.  What a legacy to follow!!!
